Songs & Recordings
Underground Platform separates the concept of a song (composition) from a recording (audio version). This gives you flexibility to track different versions, live takes, or remasters of the same piece.
Songs (Compositions)
A song represents the composition itself — title, lyrics, credits, and metadata. It exists independently of any particular audio recording.
Creating a song
Go to Band Studio → Songs → New Song. Fill in:
- Title (required)
- Lyrics (optional, can be added later)
- Language
- Credits and songwriter information
Recordings
A recording is a specific audio version of a song. One song can have multiple recordings — a studio version, a live take, a remaster, an acoustic version.
Creating a recording
Go to Band Studio → Recordings → New Recording. Select which song it belongs to, then:
- Set the recording title (often the same as the song, plus a qualifier like "Live" or "Remaster")
- Set the playback source (YouTube link)
- Add recording-specific credits
- Set ISRC code if you have one
Playback source
Currently, recordings are played via YouTube embed. Paste your YouTube video URL in the recording's audio management page. The platform extracts the video ID and embeds the player. Direct audio upload will be available in a future update.
Tip: Upload your track to YouTube (unlisted if you prefer), then paste the URL in Underground. This gives you playback without needing a separate hosting service.
About ISRC
The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) is a unique identifier for recordings. It's not required to publish on Underground, but if you have one from a distributor or label, you can enter it for reference.
